Christendom Rugby Player Named National All-American

Christendom rugby star John Kennedy was named an All-American by National Collegiate Rugby (NCR) this week, putting him into an elite field of the best collegiate rugby players in the nation. Kennedy, who plays second row for Christendom, was recognized after another terrific rugby 15s season, where he helped lead the team to the National Collegiate Rugby Sweet Sixteen.

Kennedy was one of only 92 college rugby players honored as an All-American by NCR from a pool of 10,000 players — a testament to Kennedy's achievements in the fall. Since arriving at Christendom in 2021, Kennedy has played both varsity rugby and basketball, leaving his mark in both sports. Kennedy was also an integral part of the 2021 Rugby National Championship team, helping lead Christendom to its first rugby 15s title with his brother, Owen '23.

This spring, Kennedy will aim to get to the NCR Rugby 7s National Championship, beginning with a 7s friendly tournament in Richmond in February before competing in a series of qualifying tournaments in March and April for a shot at making it to the National Tournament at the end of April.
