Christendom Baseball took the first game of a double header but dropped the second against ESAC opponent Bucks County Community College on Saturday, April 20th, 2024.
Christendom Baseball (0-6) picked up their first win of the season against Penn State Scranton (5-6) in a wild double header on Saturday March 16, 2024.
Christendom College's Athletics Department announced on Wednesday, January 23, the college's spring baseball and softball schedules, which begin February 24th and March 9th. This year's schedules will feature a number of exciting key matchups, as both the baseball and softball teams are excited for their upcoming seasons.
Paul Amuso, a senior from Gainesville, VA, signed his letter of intent to play baseball for the Christendom Crusaders on Friday, May 19. Paul, a pitcher, and shortstop, played for the John Paul the Great Catholic HS Wolves this past year. His quality pitching played a key role in the Wolves’ success.
George Storey, a senior from Manassas, VA, signed his letter of intent to play baseball for the Christendom Crusaders this past Tuesday, April 25. George, who plays mid-infield and has a very smooth swing, attends Holy Family Academy. The Crusaders are very excited to have George on the field next season playing for the Christendom. Congratulations to George and the whole Storey family on the signing!
The Crusaders took on the MACU Mustangs in their season finale this past Wednesday, 4/26, in an exciting double header. After dropping the first game in a tough fight the Crusaders bounced back, coming out victorious in game two.
The Crusaders traveled to PA this past Saturday, 4/22, where they took on Williamson Free Trade in a two-game series. The team was able to secure two wins, as they defeated Williamson 9-8 and 10-5 on the day.
Joseph Romero, a senior from Valley Center, CA, signed his letter of intent to play baseball for the Christendom Crusaders this past Monday, April 10. Joseph, a pitcher and outfielder, attends St. Joseph Academy. He is helping lead the baseball team this season with his quality performance on the mound. The Crusaders are very excited to have Joseph on the diamond next season. Congratulations to Joseph and the whole Romero family on the signing!
Christendom’s men’s rugby team continued their strong 7s performance so far this spring, winning 3 of 4 games at the Mooseman 7s Premier Qualifier tournament in Tennessee over the weekend. Meanwhile, back at home, the men’s baseball team grabbed their first wins of the season — including a dramatic walk-off win on Saturday night.
The Crusaders had back-to-back double-headers this weekend. On Saturday the team defeated Williamson twice, in two hard fought games. On Sunday the Crusaders dropped two games to PSU Fayette.
Christendom College will welcome back alumni and friends of Christendom for the thirteenth annual Thomas S. Vander Woude Memorial Golf Tournament on Monday, October 10. The event, held this year at the Shenandoah Valley Golf Club in Front Royal, Virginia, raises funds for the Thomas S. Vander Woude Memorial Scholarship, which supports student-athletes at Christendom each year.
Six Christendom student-athletes were named to the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) Academic All-State team for the 2021-22 academic year. Recognized for their efforts on the field and in the classroom, the student-athletes together had a GPA average of 3.65 for the academic year, representing the best of the college’s athletic program.
Christendom College's Athletics Department announced on Wednesday, July 6 the college's fall sports schedule, which begins on Saturday, August 27 with a men’s and women's soccer double header vs Frederick Community College.
Front Royal, VA- The Crusaders took on the Allegany College of Maryland Trojans in a thrilling game this past Thursday, April 28. After a back-and-forth game the Crusaders came out victorious with the 9-8 win.
Front Royal, VA- Crusader baseball took on the Williamson Free Trade Mechanics in a double header on Saturday, 4/3. The Crusaders came away with 1-run victories in both games, game 1 being 7-6 and game ended 9-8.
Hampton, VA- Crusader Baseball traveled south to Hampton, VA this past Friday, 3/25, to take on the Gators of Thomas Nelson in a 9-inning game. Despite playing a defensive gem, the Crusaders fell to the Gators by a score of 6-4.
Front Royal, VA- The Crusaders took on the Thomas Nelson Community College Gators last Friday, March 11. In game one of the double header the Crusaders picked up their first win of the season, however the team fell to the Gators in game two.
Keyser, WV- The Crusaders dropped a pair of games on Saturday to the Catamounts of West Virginia University at Potomac State in their opening day doubleheader.
Student-athletes across the nation were presented with their most unusual fall seasons ever last year in the wake of COVID-19, with many schools deciding to not hold seasons whatsoever. At Christendom, the athletics department worked hard to offer sports teams an extended pre-season, where they worked out throughout the week and took part in select scrimmages as well. Sports provided a healthy outlet for them that helped build discipline both on the field and in the classroom, with twenty-six student-athletes ultimately qualifying for the USCAA’s Academic All-American awards.
Michael Urankar, a Senior from Richfield, Ohio, has given his heart and soul to Christendom Athletics. Michael has played a sport every season at Christendom. In the fall Michael was a midfielder for the crusader soccer team, in winter he changed gears to be a three guard on the basketball court and then in spring he switched again becoming an outfield for the baseball team
In accordance with Christendom College’s announcement to extend online-only instruction through the rest of the semester and close all residence halls, all Christendom athletic events and activities are cancelled for the spring semester.
Bing Crosby Stadium played host to Opening Day baseball for the Christendom Crusaders on Friday, as they played the NCAA DIII Franciscan University of Steubenville Barons in a day/night double-header.
