    Christendom College's Athletics Department announced on Wednesday, January 23, the college's spring baseball and softball schedules, which begin February 24th and March 9th. This year's schedules will feature a number of exciting key matchups, as both the baseball and softball teams are excited for their upcoming seasons.

  • Golf Tournament Benefitting Student-Athletes to be Played This October

    Christendom College will welcome back alumni and friends of Christendom for the thirteenth annual Thomas S. Vander Woude Memorial Golf Tournament on Monday, October 10. The event, held this year at the Shenandoah Valley Golf Club in Front Royal, Virginia, raises funds for the Thomas S. Vander Woude Memorial Scholarship, which supports student-athletes at Christendom each year.

    Front Royal, VA- Crusader Softball took to the field this past Sunday, 3/20 for their first games in three years. The team fell twice to their opponents, the Raptors of Montgomery College.
  • Student-Athletes Find Success on the Field and in the Classroom

    Student-athletes across the nation were presented with their most unusual fall seasons ever last year in the wake of COVID-19, with many schools deciding to not hold seasons whatsoever. At Christendom, the athletics department worked hard to offer sports teams an extended pre-season, where they worked out throughout the week and took part in select scrimmages as well. Sports provided a healthy outlet for them that helped build discipline both on the field and in the classroom, with twenty-six student-athletes ultimately qualifying for the USCAA’s Academic All-American awards.

    Christendom College earned the USCAA’s 2019 President’s Cup for Academics this past weekend, as announced by the collegiate sports organization. The award, which is given to the school with the most Academic All-Americans and whose athletes have the best GPA, is Christendom’s first and a testament to the college’s strength in balancing sports success with academic excellence.

At the center of these moments were 37 senior student-athletes who earned numerous honors during their four years, leaving behind a legacy of sportsmanship and perseverance that the college will remember for years to come.

  • Baseball and Softball Set To Play Ball Next Week

    The first innings of Christendom baseball and softball in 2019 are set to begin next week, with the Crusaders and Lady Crusaders beginning their respective seasons. The Crusaders will open their season at home vs. Penn State York on Tuesday, March 12, while the Lady Crusaders will begin on the road against Trinity University on Friday, March 15.

  • Seniors Sent Off With Sports Banquet

    On May 2nd, the athletics department held its annual end-of-year sports banquet.  At the banquet, the athletics department honored our graduating seniors with personal plaques commemorating their years of participation in Christendom varsity sports, as well as honoring Sophomore Ian Heisler with his USCAA Player of the Week Award for his no-hitter thrown on March 3rd.

    In the first game of the double-header, Christendom fell to Washington Adventist on Sunday 17-4. The Crusader offense struggled against Washington Adventist’s pitcher, Aliyah Stone, who only gave up 5 hits.

    The Lady Crusaders lost to Penn State Schuylkill on Sunday 16-3. Penn State's Danielle Lilly had 4 RBIs and their pitcher, Cara Brennan, allowed only 4 hits to the 24 batters she faced. Christendom's Becca Byrne pitched 4 innings, giving up 21 hits and 13 earned runs.
  • Lady Crusaders Get First Wins Against Valley Forge

    The Lady Crusaders got their first win of the season on Saturday at Valley Forge. They rallied in the top of the 2 nd inning to score 20 runs. Annemarie Speer led the Crusaders with 4 RBIs followed by Becca Byrne and Sophie Gordon who each had 3. Becca Byrne got the win, pitching 5 innings, allowing 7 hits and 6 earned runs.

    On a very cold and windy afternoon, the Lady Crusaders took on Cairn University in a double header. The Sophomores stole the show with Margaret Speer, Sofia Skuba, and Rebecca Byrne all having two hits a piece. Byrne also battled the wind and cold and pitched the entire game.
  • Lady Crusaders Split Opening Doubleheader

    After build-up of much anticipation due to multiple snow or rained-out games, the Lady Crusaders softball team took the field for their first game this past Wednesday. Under new Coach Bob McClary, the team began this season well, with a 14-11 run victory against Notre Dame of Maryland. The girls played a clean first game, making only 2 errors. Among the highlights were a diving catch behind 2nd base made by senior shortstop Bridget Handy to end the top of the second inning, as well as clutch hits by sophomores Nicole Feldman and Maggie Adams and consistent pitching by Senior Mary Solitario

  • Baseball and Softball Set to Return Next Week

    America’s pastime returns to Christendom next week, with opening day double-headers scheduled for baseball and softball. The Lady Crusaders will hit the field first on Tuesday, taking on Trinity University, while the Crusaders will make their long-awaited return to the diamond on Friday against Central Penn. Both sets of games will be held at Front Royal’s Bing Crosby Stadium.
